Gauri Verma inherited her artistic bent of mind from her mother who is an award-winner from the Lalit Kala Academy, UP. Though she studied History (Hons) at Delhi University, she always veered towards the arts, specifically commercial and fine art. Gauri finally found her calling in sculpture. Her works reflect a certain calmness and a blend of expression, emotion and thought.
Gauri’s conceptualisation of the composition is extraordinary and she is able to execute it even better than the concept. Her sculptures are a far cry from the academic style, bordering on the modern and the experimental. They are radical, with abstract forms in metal and fibre. Some of her works display a rare insight into her unique creative approach. She has participated in a number of group shows, including the International Art Expo 2009, Mumbai.
